Herein we will briefly discuss hemostatic changes during veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO). First, we will describe a paper just published in Critical Care Medicine. Second, we will present our findings on this same topic. Third, we will highlight some limitations of the way we currently administer unfractionated heparin during VV-ECMO. Finally, we will present our and others ongoing research.
