The Unit employs highly specialized personnel, whose task is to promote the adequate recovery of respiratory functions in patients undergoing surgery and not according to the therapeutic program established by the ward doctor. The Unit also deals with the active and passive mobilization of long-term patients and patients admitted to critical areas (Intensive Postoperative Care and Coronary Unit).

The Unit employs highly specialized personnel who have the task of promoting the adequate recovery of respiratory functions in patients undergoing surgery and not according to the therapeutic program established by the ward doctor. The treatment of respiratory physiotherapy begins before the surgery with a meeting with the patient in which the rehabilitation process is illustrated, He then goes on to the post-operative intensive care unit when the patient reaches clinical stability and continues until discharge.

After a careful evaluation of the clinical and instrumental parameters, a personalized respiratory physiotherapy treatment is put in place in order to restore the respiratory activity compromised due to the discomfort caused by the intervention. The Unit also deals with the active and passive mobilization of long-term patients and patients admitted to critical areas (Intensive Postoperative Care and Coronary Unit). At the Monzino Cardiology Center is also active the activity of rehabilitation cardiology outpatient that uses a special gym equipped with bike ergometers and treadmill.
