The Department of Electrophysiology & Cardiac Pacing​ at the Centro Cardiologico Monzino is particularly committed to the following research areas:

  • Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) and life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias, with the aim of improving procedural efficacy, safety, and long-term clinical outcomes.
  • Electroanatomical mapping and endomyocardial biopsy for the diagnosis and characterization of different forms of cardiomyopathy, enhancing the understanding of arrhythmogenic substrates and disease mechanisms.
  • Identification of optimal left ventricular pacing strategies in patients with dual-chamber pacemakers and/or implantable cardiac devices, with the goal of improving cardiac function and patient outcomes.
  • Development and clinical evaluation of innovative ablation catheters for the treatment of ventricular tachycardia, particularly in complex clinical scenarios.
  • Investigation of novel cardiac pacing technologies aimed at establishing a new standard of care, improving physiological cardiac activation and reducing pacing-related complications.
