Stress Test & Holter

Quick Facts

The stress test, on a cycloergometer or on a carpet, the cornerstone of non-invasive cardiological diagnostics, allows an assessment of the coronary reserve, any disturbances of the heart rhythm and the patient’s functional capacity. In particular, the cardiopulmonary stress test (CPET) allows to identify the cause of the functional limitation and to "aim so physiologically" therapy.

Among the clinics of the Polyclinic Cardiovascular Center of Cardiology Monzino are fundamental those insured by the Laboratory of Ergometry and the Laboratory Holter. In the Laboratory of Ergometry, stress tests are carried out on a cycloergometer or carpet. This method, the cornerstone of non-invasive cardiological diagnostics, allows an assessment of the coronary reserve, possible heart rhythm disturbances and the patient’s functional capacity.

The cardiopulmonary stress test (CPET) provides a lot of important information, as it allows us to identify the cause of the functional limitation and, within the same disease, which is the most altered function, which allows us to "aim physiologically" the therapy. The Holter method, that is the recording of the electrocardiogram within 24 hours, is prescribed and used to evaluate, among other things, any problems of cardiac arrhythmias and silent ischemia.
