The IRCCS Centro Cardiologico Monzino, affiliated with the University of Milan, is a no-profit private hospital designed and devoted exclusively to the treatment of adult cardiovascular patients. Cardiac surgery program includes valve repair and replacement, CABGs, OPCABs, mini invasive and thoracoscopic surgery, electrophysiologic procedures, VAD implant, TAVI, Mitraclip, cardio-oncology and pulmonary surgery with cardiac involvement. Vascular surgery includes aortic aneurysms (arch, thoracic, abdominal) trated with EVAR and TEVAR as well as open repair, carotid surgery and peripheral arteries.
One of the largest cardiac and vascular anesthesia practice group in Milan (Italy), providing nearly 1,950 anesthetics/yr including more than 850 cardiac cases, over 300 vascular cases and more than 800 procedures of percutaneous ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias has an opening for a cardiac anesthetist.
Anesthesia is provided by a group of 14 full time physicians caring for patients both in the OR as well as in the dedicated postoperative ICU.
The four OR are equipped with last generation 3D TOE and electronic data collection system.
The ICU is an 11-bed department equipped with the most advanced hemodynamic, respiratory and neurological monitoring systems as well as with its own electronic data collection.
All anaesthetists are involved in training of the specializing doctors from the School of Anaesthesia of the University and in scientific research activities.
The research is very closely linked to the daily clinical activity and the type of patients that are most frequently treated, such as the search for early markers of perioperative renal failure, the study of new pharmacological protocols leading to optimal neurological management, the study of alternative methods of ventilation and the optimization of the heart-lung interaction.
Job requirement: Applicants should have a medical license and a certification in Anesthesia valid for the Italian law. They must understand and speak fluent italian; the knowledge of english or french language will be a plus. Previous experiences in other cardiac anesthesia groups will be ppreciated. At least, basic TEE experience will be required.
Duties include direct patient care both in the OR as in the ICU and involvement in research clinical projects will be very appreciated.
