Diagnosis and Therapy
The most up-to-date diagnostic and therapeutical methods of diagnosing and treating diseases of the cardiovascular system are provided to patients through the departmental organisation of Centro Cardiologico Monzino, which has :
- 201 accredited Beds, of which 22 Intensive Care (Post-Operative and Coronary)
- A Specialised Emergency Unit for heart surgery and vascular surgery, with 4 monitored outpatients’ units, 1 Emergency Room, 4 technical beds in the admittance ward and a Chest Pain Unit
- An operating area with 4 Operating Rooms (1 multifunctional)
- An Interventional Department with 5 Cath-Labs (Angiographic and Electrophysiologycal)
- An Imaging Department with 2-3D Ecocardiography and high-speed multilayer cardiac CT scanner
- A Gym for cardiovascular rehabilitation
- A General Outpatients’ Department with 23 examination rooms
- A Tele-cardiology and Home Hospitalisation Unit
- A Med- Lab service
Research and Practice
The research conducted at Centro Cardiologico Monzino in Milan involves all the Institute’s organisational units and is aimed at developing innovations in the diagnostic-therapeutic field and transferring the results of scientific work into clinical practice.
The main subject areas of research in which Centro Cardiologico Monzino is now involved, and will continue to be involved for the next few years, are clinical and molecular-genetic research in the cardiac and vascular fields, pharmacotherapeutic control of atherothrombosis and gene and cell therapy.
In 2009, the research activity led to 106 publications in scientific magazines (total of 563.41 Impact Factor points) 25 Clinical Trials, 118 projects.
